October 13th, 2008 | Debut CD "Consequneces" finally out!
My debut CD "Consequneces" is finally out! It features David Binney - saxophone/electronics, Ambrose Akinmusire - trumpet, Matt Brewer - double bass and Tysahwn Sorey - drums. The official release date was Sept 30th 2008. It is currently available on iTunes, at Amazon.com etc and all good CD stores and online retailers. It will soon be available to buy through this website... more money comes to me that way ; ) and of course, you can always purchase a copy directly from me at any of my live shows.

July 31st, 2008 | JOHN ESCREET PROJECT UK TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED!

Dates for the UK tour of THE JOHN ESCREET PROJECT have finally been announced! The itinerary can be seen in the 'Performances' section. This tour coincides with the release of an album by this group on Posi-Tone Records. The group includes David Binney - alto saxophone, Ambrose Akinmusire - trumpet, Zack Lober - double bass (Matt Brewer on album) and Tyshwan Sorey - drums. This is a rare chance to see these musicians perform in the UK, so please come and check us out if we are in your area! As well as the concerts listed, we will be giving workshops and masterclasses at the Northern Jazz Centre, Doncaster (27th September), Royal Academy of Music (3rd October), Chetham's School of Music, Manchester (6th October) and Birmingham Conservatoire (7th October). This project is generously funded in part by Arts Council England/National Lottery.

I have finally updated my website after after about a year of having the same theme, contents and color scheme! There are some new sound clips, downloads, photos, videos and other updates. I have finally had some spare time now that I have graduated from the Master's Program at Manhattan School of Music!

I am very excited about the coming months... I will be recording my first album at the end of June with my group 'The John Escreet Project' which will feature David Binney, Ambrose Akinmusire, Matt Brewer and Tyshawn Sorey. Before this we have a few gigs in New York, where I will be staying up until July. Then I will be heading back to the UK for a few weeks. In mid-July I will be doing a few gigs in London with the amazing Ben van Gelder, which I am really looking forward to! Ben is one of my favorite musicians and one of my best friends. Then I will head back to NYC in August, and prepare for the UK/Europe tour of 'The John Escreet Project' in late September/early October. Exact dates tba, so watch this space! Thank you for reading.
